Tiny Dancer, Ballerina Girl, or just CUTE!

Every night when I am putting Sydney to bed she says, "Mom, where am I going when I wake up?" Lest you worry that she is over-scheduled, what she is really trying to ask me (I know because it is always the next question) is, "do I get to go to ballet tomorrow?"

I enrolled her in a ballet class once a week at a cute local studio. She took a community class last year and I wasn't really sure that she wanted to be a dancing girl. Now I feel more confident that my conclusion should have been that she was three and not really ready for so much "structure."

Now a year later I am amazed at her level of focus. She is mesmerized by her teacher, her leotard, her ballet shoes, her skirt, and most of all the huge mirrors. I watch through a tiny slot under the curtain in the pictured window with the BIGGEST smile on my face. It is just so fun to see her so captivated by the simple steps and her efforts to make her body complete them.

This photo was taken after her first class and it just doesn't do her cuteness JUSTICE!

p.s. Andrew can't believe I didn't edit out her snotty nose--I told him that snotty noses are real life and I want our blog to portray real life. I said it nicely--don't worry. Are you proud SG?

Oh what a cutie! I'm so glad you like the studio! It's always nerve-wracking to give a recommendation (and in this case an EXPENSIVE recommendation) and wonder how it turns out. Didn't they look like pink snowflakes that first class day? Love it!
