Treasuring . . .

I just read a darling post written by an old friend. Her second child has just gone to school (must be year-round) and she is finding things to be a bit different with kids not home anymore. This section of it totally caught me--I hope she doesn't mind me quoting her:
. . . tomorrow is Saturday, and for the first time in my life as a mother, I'm looking forward to it not because my husband will be home, but because my kids will be home. I find myself FIERCELY guarding the precious moments we have to be together as a family.
Don't you love how she used FIERCELY! Honestly, I don't know that I can claim that I have guarded the precious moments I have had with that much passion. Oh how I need to change.

Here's one that I am going to TREASURE for now!

On the hunt for her next catch!

S#1 is already worried about leaving the fireflies next summer. They are completely magical to her. I should also admit that once it's dark enough and I look across the street into the park I find myself thinking "there are seriously fairies flying over there" because the fireflies are so AMAZING!

She caught one!

YES her post totally caught me off-guard too and made me realize I am not appreciating the time I have with my kids at this age. FIERCE needs to be used on a daily basis I think, thanks to Christian from Project Runway. The look on Sydney's face is awesome - it does sound magical!!

Love that... I wonder what Bae would think of those, she is terrified of all bugs! I guess she likes Butterflies, but these dang desert beattles are HUGE! Wish that we had fire flies. Love you Syd!

I love her concentration, what a cutie!

The kids loved hearing from you in Primary yesterday. They were so quiet while Barbara read the card. And guess what? They really know the program songs you taught them, from last year to now. For some reason they all decided to sing yesterday and they knew them inside out! You were really great with them.

It's great to see your family. Thanks for the picture-posts!

It's fun to hear about your life away from Seattle. Congratulations to Andrew on his interviews; good luck making a decision. And I love those shots of Syd firefly-hunting-- don't they capture the essence of childhood?

I can't believe how much she has grown since we saw her last! What beautiful children you have. It looks like things are going really well for you in your new home. I'm a little sad you don't live in my favorite place any more.
