One of the difficulties is that I am so struggling getting my directions straight here. I realize that some of you will say, "get a nav system--it will save you" but to be honest, I really just want to get it figured out. Having mountains on one side and large bodies of water on another are OH so helpful in figuring out directions.
Church on Sunday was good. Lots and lots of people from Utah have been transplanted here--in fact I am not sure if there are many "natives"--but most people seem to really enjoy it here.
Now, just because you are dying to know more, here are TEN tidbits about our new place--enjoy!
- Our kids' greatest wish to have something furry has come true. We have resident rabbits! (Outside of course) Sometimes we see more than one, but usually just one at a time. No matter what, his/her name is Karl (yeah, not sure where the name came from--A's idea). Picture the kids chasing our dear little friend all around--it's quite cute--really.
- The dishwasher here is NOT (I repeat) NOT full-sized! I am now realizing the the kitchen picture was a bit streeeeetched out--gotta love digital photography!!
- Fireflies are AMAZING! I am not seeing any at this hour, but boy are they cool. Too bad our kids have not been awake late enough to see them (we need to break some rules I think!).
- Just because a house BOASTS 1800 square feet does not necessarily mean it has more storage space than 800 square feet. This realization has been a bit humbling. We really had things figured out in our little bungalow. No worries though!
- Living across the street from a park on a non-busy street is FABULOUS! 'nuf said.
- Just because you live in dairy country doesn't mean that milk is less expensive.
- The zoo here is FREE! It also has a carousel with FANTASTIC animals. I don't mind the $1 fee per child because a $2 zoo trip is great!
- Cleanliness standards vary--needless to say I am not going to be overly concerned about how I leave this place. I am still chuckling that our landlord said he "hired" someone to clean it--he so must have meant me (and my sweet niece of course).
- Having three bedrooms and two bathrooms is WONDERFUL!
- S is having SOOO much fun meeting neighbors--she goes outside and just yells, "Hello neighbors!"
p.s. Abbey, the two interviews were with groups affiliated with the two major hospitals there in the area. We liked both of them!!

I was the cleaning lady here, too! Didn't realize I had signed up for that job, but hey, it's clean now! It sounds like you are really going to enjoy your new home: bunnies, parks, new friends, two bathrooms...sounds pretty dreamy. Can't wait to see pics!
Sound like a great place, you will do awesome. Did you end up selling your home in WA?
Wow I'm loving the sound of it! I can already tell you'll be having a lot of fun this year! You should check out Eric Carle's "The Very Lonely Firefly" - at the end it has little LED-type lights on the page (board book).
Is it from "Annie"?
Sounds like a nice set-up. What I wanna know is... How's the cheese?!
Yes, that was a good question, how IS the cheese? Have you sunk your teeth into anything delightful yet? I am so glad you can see the glass is half-full after several 'misconceptions', but it sounds like things are on the up and up!! Send me your new contact info. via email...
Glad that things are going well for you guys! Snaps for the free zoo and automatic pet, your kids are set! Take advantage of the fireflies, they seem simple but that is one thing I will miss soooo much! Post pictures soon.
Someday I hope I get to see a firefly in person...however, I hope it's not because I have moved somewhere that has them....I'm quite happy where I'm at!!!!
Yay! I love landing, and it sounds like you have landed at last. "I think you're gonna like it there." (I love that scene from Annie.)
I'm glad you're enjoying Wisconsin. It's a great place and there are some things we still miss about it! I especially loved spring and fall in Milwaukee, which I'm sure will be just as beautiful in Madison!
It is fun sometimes to have new adventures. I'm glad that you are liking the new area.
First of all, I love Annie.
Next, I admire you wanting to figure out the directions. I am so a garmin girl! And I am horrible at driving with my kids in the car AND trying to figure out where I am. You are much more skilled in the navigation area.
Fireflies/Lightning bugs are the best! We used to catch them on KY visits as kids, and now it is so cool to have them in MD! You have to let your kids catch some in a mason jar and watch them!
About cleanliness standards, I bet you are feeling just fine about how you left your house now, right?! Been there (too many times).
Thinking of you and hoping all the adjusting and moving in goes well. Call me if you need to!
Andrea- I did send you an invitation to our blog a while ago. You may have deleted it. So check junk mail :)
Anyway- im glad you guys are enoying your new place. We missed you at the renunion!
