I think that my rule keeping days are to be beaten out of me. I am beginning to believe that S#1 and her dad are conspiring to "fix me."
She is great. Ever the fashionista--the A-daddy is thrilled!! Finally someone who will love shopping with him. Please note, I do not mind being the recipient of his purchases. Anyhow, you gotta love her sporting S#2's tie and shirt with the undies?? She was very proud of this ensemble.
On to the rule keeping. Because I am home I am the primary ENFORCER. I have decided she must hear "NO" too much because today she said to me, "Mom, why can't we call November YESvember?"
Why can't we?

So I've read a few articles of moms giving their kids a "yes" day every once in a while. Where every request for the entire day (except the dangerous ones, of course) is met with a "yes". I've never done it myself, but I try to remember not to meet every request with a knee-jerk "no" - that "no" can be habit-forming! :) Of course, it has to be a day when you have no personal agenda, and probably when you're not the sole parent around. But you should totally try having a "yes" day with S#1. I bet you'd have a blast!
Great post. It gave me a really good laugh!
smart girl...and fashionable too!
I love her. I wish we were neighbors... she could come to my house and break all the rules and play with the cheap plastic toys and drink diet coke.
Can't wait to see you!
Sooo funny! You know I am a rule keeper, too, and yes we love the outfit!
Andrea,
I totally am with you on planning for the worst and hoping for the best. Then..you are never dissapointed. Don thinks I am a pesimist. I tell him I am realistic! Give the kids a squeeze! Cant wait to see you!

I was raised to plan for the worst and hope for the best. That is literally what my Dad would say all the time. I actually think it's a realistic way to live, not pessimistic. And you can still have FUN but know that you're prepared mentally, etc. ANYWAY love the ensemble. That girl has amazing things in store that she will create for herself and you're helping her achieve that. I think our kids do conspire to shake us out of our fuddy-duddyness :)
